Saint Thomas Lowland (Nevis)
Saint Thomas Lowland is the main west-coast parish of Nevis, covering Pinney's Beach, Cotton Ground, Jessups, and much of the island's resort frontage.
Overview
Saint Thomas Lowland covers the main west-coast stretch of Nevis north of Charlestown, where beaches, hotels, villages, and the coastal road run together. It is broader than either Cotton Ground Area or Jessups Area, which describe smaller parts of the same coast.
The parish is associated with Cotton Ground, Jessups Village, Pinney's Beach, and the hotel belt that runs along this side of the island. The same parish also includes older village streets and residential sections behind the beach frontage.
Its distinct identity is mixed. Saint Thomas Lowland is the most tourism-facing parish on Nevis, but it also contains ordinary village streets and residential stretches that sit beside the beach-and-hotel belt rather than disappearing into it.
