Nevis Peak
Nevis Peak is the central volcanic mountain of Nevis, rising above Charlestown, Gingerland, and the island's ring of lower slopes.
Overview
Nevis Peak is a steep volcanic mountain with dense upper forest, frequent cloud cover, and a summit that shapes the island's outline from almost every coast. The higher ground is wetter and more enclosed than the west-coast lowlands or the exposed windward shore.
The peak rises from central Nevis above Charlestown Area and Gingerland Area. It is directly tied to Nevis Peak National Park and the separate Nevis Peak Trail, which covers the summit route.
From around the island, the mountain works as a constant geographic reference point. It helps explain the weather, the forest cover, and the way the settled lower slopes wrap around Nevis.
